Read the Bible Chronologically: August 2014

Last month we saw Israel's sovereignty begin to fall to Assyria, this month will show us Judah fall to Babylon. Yet God never leaves his people no forget his promises. As the apostle Paul will write to Timothy centuries later, "If we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself" (2 Timothy 2:13). Though Israel and Judah alike cheated on the truth God with pagan idols, he remained true to his promises.

Judah will go into captivity, but for a time. They will return to serve God's ultimate purpose: being the conduit through which he will fulfill his promise of a Savior. God has not forgotten the promises made to Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The blessing for all nations will come and rescue the Jewish people and Gentiles alike from their sin!
