Gloria Dei Church called an assistant pastor in June of 1987. Rev. Mark Mammel, a recent graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, was extended the call to serve Gloria Dei through the assignment committee of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. He was installed and ordained on September 13, 1987. Pastor Mammel would serve the congregation through 1993, when he accepted a call to serve as pastor of Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yucaipa, California.
